Saturated With spirit

When i woke this morning, I was full of hope. Full of optimism for the day ahead. Armed with a soy latte and ready to take on the day I opened the paper only to be hit in the face.
THE DUKE SPIRIT!
Yet again. another editorial on this band. Great. They are a good band, with some amazingly inspired tunes, but in the age of the eternal quest for the next 'Winehouse' one's patience can be worn out with these flimsily written article's tired references.
The Duke spirit, are, indeed a band of the forefront of music greatness. The current hype around this band is all but exceeded by their talent.
The 2006 debut, Cuts Across The Land. was an album that challenged the listener and gave much in return.
Lead singer, Liela Moss, has the voice of a pack a day smoker, only with talent. And The songs are packed full of edgy sincerity.
Yet despite all this, the media saturation (or very near) may be what unravels this band of immense promise. You can't open a magazine or paper without something being written about them. And whilst this, in itself, isn't a problem, it is a cause for concern.
It is an all too frequent occurrence, that the 'next big thing,' will be yesterday's news.
Go out, Listen to the Duke Spirit, be critical of what you read, and let the music speak for itself.
