The irony of the Wombats

The wombats, another boring NME hype band of little substance, will in no serious way change your world, or alter you're being.
There inarticulate musing on an influential band (dance to joy division, anyone?) does nothing beyond make me want to surrender the gift of hearing for fear of turning on the 'alternative' commercial radio station and hearing them .
"Lets dance to joy division, and celebrate the irony."
The irony? pray, do tell? where is the irony you so wish us to celebrate?
Is it the 'joy' in joy division that you locate this irony? Is it because 'joy' division were actually not 'joyous?'
and did you discover this by watching 'control' and being profoundly moved by Ian Curtis' despair?
Oh wait, here's where you tell us what exactly is 'ironic.'
"everything is going wrong, but were so happy"
Well, wombats, i believe you have missed the point.
Whilst I don't claim to be an expert (actually there are times I do but maybe not in this instance) Joy division are named after a nazi war camp and the irony in dancing to joy division is not that you world is going wrong while your dancing along to such an uplifting band, 'joy' division but that you are smiling while singing the chorus of the one song you know, about a relationship falling apart, and a in retrospect, a life.
The Wombats, stupid band name, stupid song.
Im looking forward to seeing them on a Vh1, "one hit wonders," special in years to come
